This first sentence from Rayyane Tabet's performance?Dear Victoria?marks?the start of an artistic project and quest, based on a family story. A spy story?

The book "Fragments" was designed by the artist?as an installation, coupled with a performance, and is inspired by a family legend about Rayyane Tabet��s great-grand-father.The first edition of the book accompanied an exhibition which travelled from the Kunstverein in Hamburg to Beirut. The second edition of the book is published in conjunction with the exhibition at the Carr�� d'Art - Mus��e d'Art Contemporain, N?mes.

Working across video, painting, text and installation Abu Abdallah��s work is a meditation on our media saturated present, and the tension between our virtual personas and real lived experiences. Influenced by the online flows of data and images as well as pop culture in the Gulf, her work is an intimate reflection on the anxieties of a hyperconnected present.

The book is published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibitions at Kunstverein in Hamburg and Jameel Arts Centre, Dubai.
